SUMMARY:Heritage Open Days - Building Heritage Together: A Community Tile Project
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Carrow House on Saturday 12th September for a creative day celebrating clay\, community and the heritage of our historic building. \nVisitors will be invited to make or paint a tile inspired by Carrow House\, Norwich’s history\, and the patterns\, stories and textures found in heritage buildings. The tiles created during the day will be kept by the studio and used to form a collaborative piece of artwork for Carrow House to display — a lasting record of the day\, made by the people who visited\, forming part of the new heritage of the building. \nThose who would like to keep their own tile can do so for £5 per tile. \nAlongside the tile activity\, there will be an exhibition of work by Mud Hub members and studio associates\, showcasing the creativity coming out of the studio. \nWe’ll also be running mini wheel throwing taster sessions in the studio\, bookable via the Mud Hub website for £10 per person. Please visit the Mud hub website to book from 3rd August onwards. You don’t need an artistic background; I can provide example designs for you to use. In my workshop you’ll learn step-by-step how to make a linocut print in black ink. You will use a variety of paper types and practice hand burnishing. \nYou’ll begin by drawing your own design or using one of the designs provided and transferring it to an A5 linocut block. As a group we’ll go through the stages of carving\, inking and printing your block either by hand or using a small press. We’ll talk about tools and techniques and you can ask as many questions as you like. Participants will leave the workshop with their linocut print and their lino block to continue making more at home if they wish. \nAll tools and materials are provided. The workshop is very hands-on\, with everything explained in demonstrations as you go along in a supportive and friendly atmosphere. \nThere is lots of free car parking on site\, the room is accessible and has an accessible toilet right next door. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding specific access requirements so I can assist you. \nTea and biscuits will be waiting for you upon your arrival.
