Heritage Open Days – Beginners Granny Square Workshop

September 13 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Join Hannah of Wheely Good Crochet, a member of Carrow House Creatives, for a relaxed and welcoming introduction to one of crochet’s most iconic techniques. In this one-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to create a traditional granny square – a versatile and accessible starting point for anyone new to crochet.

Guided step-by-step, Hannah will demonstrate the simple stitches and techniques needed to build your square, helping you gain confidence as you work. Granny squares are a brilliant foundation for a wide range of projects, from cosy blankets to garments and accessories, and can be combined in endless ways to create unique designs.

This session offers more than just a new skill, it’s an opportunity to slow down, enjoy the rhythm of making by hand, and connect with a craft that has been passed down through generations. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refresh your knowledge, you’ll leave with the beginnings of your own handmade piece and the skills to continue your crochet journey at home.

With her friendly teaching style and passion for inclusive creativity, Hannah creates a supportive environment where everyone can learn, experiment, and enjoy the process of making.
