Heritage Open Days – Lynn Lockwood – Join The Chocolution! – Beyond the Wrapper: Collaborative Collage Workshops at Carrow House

September 13 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Help create collaborative artworks from donated chocolate and cocoa packaging. Inspired by “Everyday Histories”, these workshops at Carrow House explore links between daily chocolate use and cocoa-growing communities worldwide.

This collaborative workshop project invites the public to help create wrapper collages inspired by cocoa-growing landscapes, cocoa communities and the hidden global connections behind everyday chocolate consumption.

Using donated chocolate wrappers, foils and cocoa-related packaging collected from the community, participants will work together to build bold collage artworks exploring the journey from cocoa tree to everyday product. The imagery will draw on cocoa plants, wildlife, people, landscapes and the wider systems connected to cocoa and chocolate production around the world.

Inspired by this year’s Heritage Open Days theme “Everyday Histories”, the project explores how ordinary objects and discarded packaging can reveal much larger stories about agriculture, trade, labour, advertising, global relationships and everyday life.

The workshops are designed to be highly accessible and suitable for all ages and abilities, using a simplified collage approach rather than detailed artistic techniques. Participants can contribute small or large sections using colour, texture and wrapper fragments to gradually build the artworks throughout the Heritage Open Days period.

Visitors will also be invited to save and donate chocolate wrappers and cocoa-related packaging ahead of the event. Further information about collection points and how to take part will be available via the Join the Chocolution website.
