TEND Collective CIC – 5-Week Workshop: Boundaries Without Battles

Exploring boundaries and holding limits while staying connected. One ticket covers all five weekly sessions.
Setting boundaries with children can be hard.
You might find yourself repeating the same thing over and over, getting pulled into arguments, giving in because you’re exhausted- or holding a boundary and then wondering whether you were too harsh.
Sometimes it can feel as though your only choices are to become stricter or let things go.
Cost
The cost of this workshop is subsidised by Norfolk Community Foundation’s Love Norfolk Grant. If you need further support with the cost, please email admin@tendcollective.co.uk and we’ll send you a code to attend for free. No questions asked- we don’t want cost to be a barrier to joining us.
You’re also welcome to pay weekly. Just email admin@tendcollective.co.uk and we’ll arrange this with you.
Boundaries Without Battles is a five-week workshop for parents and caregivers who want to understand what is happening in those difficult moments and find ways of holding boundaries while protecting the relationship with their child.
Together, we’ll think about behaviour, emotions, connection and what children may be communicating when things become difficult.
This isn’t about becoming a perfect parent or finding a technique that makes children comply. It’s about developing a deeper understanding of your child, yourself and what happens between you when a limit needs to be held.
Over the five weeks, we’ll explore:
- Why boundaries matter- and why children and their parents can find them so difficult
- What might be happening underneath challenging behaviour
- Big feelings, overwhelm and regulation
- What happens to us as parents when our children push against a limit
- Holding a boundary without relying on threats, punishment or repeated battles
- Staying connected when your child is angry, upset or disappointed
- Repairing after things haven’t gone the way we wanted
- Finding an approach that feels manageable for your own family
There will be space to think about real situations from family life, reflect together and try out different ways of approaching the moments that feel difficult.
You won’t leave with a script for every situation. The aim is to help you feel more confident in understanding what is happening and deciding how you want to respond.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for parents and caregivers who find boundaries can become a source of tension, conflict or uncertainty at home.
You might be dealing with frequent battles over everyday things, big reactions when you say no, difficulty getting your child to cooperate, or simply wondering how to set limits without losing connection.
You don’t need to be experiencing a particular level of difficulty to come along.
The group is small, supportive and conversational. You can bring your own experiences and questions, while sharing as much or as little as feels comfortable.
A different way of thinking about boundaries
At Tend, we’re interested in what sits underneath behaviour.
Rather than asking simply, “How do I stop this behaviour?”, we’ll think about questions such as:
What is my child communicating?
What happens for them when I hold this boundary?
What happens for me?
How can I be clear and consistent without losing connection?
Across the five weeks, we’ll draw on relational, attachment-informed and therapeutic approaches to help make sense of these moments and find responses that work for you and your family.
Your Programme Summary
At the end of the five weeks, you’ll receive a written Programme Summary covering the key themes and areas you have explored during the workshop.
This gives you something concrete to take away from the programme and can also be useful when talking with your child’s school or other professionals involved with your family. It can help you show what you have been exploring, the approaches you have learned about and the work you have undertaken as a parent or caregiver.
Your Programme Summary reflects your participation in a specialist-led parent programme. It is not an assessment or clinical report about your child and does not provide a diagnosis or replace individual therapeutic or clinical assessment.
