‘Join the Chocolution is a creative project that elevates the voice of cocoa farming communities and explores new ways for people to engage with the realities behind chocolate.
Cocoa is grown across Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia by millions of smallholder farming families. Yet the people who grow cocoa have historically been placed at the bottom of the chocolate system, with decisions about farming, pricing and sustainability often made far from the farms themselves.
This imbalance is not only economic. It is also about power, autonomy and dignity. Colonial legacies, racism and damaging narratives continue to shape how cocoa farmers are perceived and treated, with farmers often blamed or labelled lazy when systems imposed on them fail. In reality, cocoa farmers hold deep agricultural knowledge and expertise.
Join the Chocolution creates creative spaces for dialogue, learning and participation that connect cocoa communities, consumers, creatives and businesses, encouraging understanding and collective action.’
